Singer/songwriter Jon Guelas, 22, was born to a British father and Filipino mother in Cambridge, UK. He has always had an interest in music but invested his younger years in football. Playing for a team local to where he lives and for the school he attended. He decided at the age of 13 to fly to the Philippines and live with his grandparents and try out for the national squad whilst attending Claret School of Quezon City. He signed with Mercator Talent Management but decided to return back to UK after 6 months as he was missing his family.
Throughout his teenage years, he kept his love of singing to himself but after finishing his studies at Long Road College in Cambridge, he decided it was time to follow his passion for music.
Within 2 months, Jon was scouted for the X Factor while having Artist Development sessions with Legacy Records. Jon’s first ever performance in front of a crowd was at the SSE Arena wherein he received 4 Yes’ from the X Factor judges. Formed by Robbie & Ayda Williams, Louis Tomlinson, and Simon Cowell, Jon got through to the finals (live shows) with the boyband United Vibe.
Once released from their contract with SYCO Entertainment and ITV, the band went on and toured UK and Ireland to sell out shows and also performed at the Hyde Park with Robbie Williams in front of 65000 people. The highlight of their career was travelling to the Philippines appearing and performing at 5 Ayala Malls, performing on ASAP Natin ‘to and MYX Ph, Wish Bus, Monster RX 93.1, having a mini concert for the charity Miss Possibilities Foundation and being invited to the home of the then incumbent UK Ambassador to the Philippines Daniel Pruce. Jon co-wrote two chart breaking songs which led to various radio and TV appearances in UK & Ireland. At the beginning of 2020, the band members decided to go their separate ways which gave Jon the opportunity to focus on his solo career. He spent majority of his time in the studio, finding his own sound and himself as an artist.
Fast forward to 2022, Jon has released a few of his original songs and is currently signed with Tarsier Records. Did I Let You Go which has been dubbed as “The Heartbreak anthem” and Work This Time. DILYG is currently included in the soundtrack for the hit tv series He’s Into Her Season 2, with three different versions being played on the show. He also sang the stripped/acoustic version BGYO’s Best Time which also is included in the shows soundtrack.
Since visiting the Philippines in March 2022, he has performed on KumuStar Ka, He’s Into Her Global Assembly, He’s Into Her Season 2 Bearkada Hangout, Net25 Letters and Music Online, Wish Bus 107.5, Monster Radio RX 93.1 Concert Series, Brick Oven Live session, Showtime Online to name a few.
He is planning on staying in the Philippines for as long as he required.
